Muktinath Darshan Yatra

 

Muktinath: Mukti (Salvation) holds grate significance for all spiritual people in the south Asian sub continent. Muktinath (the provider of salvation) has been one such holy site, where thousands of devotees flock for attaining the much sought after moksha.

The famous temple of Lord Muktinath lies in the district of Mustang and is situated about 18 kms northeast of Jomsom in the north central part of Nepal, at an altitude of about 3750 meters. Muktinath is of the religious importance to both Hindus and Buddhists. The main shrine of Muktinath is a pagoda - shaped temple dedicated to the Lord Vishnu. In the walls around it are 108 waterspouts. The Jwala Mai temple near by has a spring and an eternal flame fed by natural gas. It is believed that one should visit this temple after completing pilgrimage of four special religious sites in India. That is "Chardham Yatra".

Once Pilgrimage journey made to this holy Muktinath, holy dip in the Kunda and bath beneath of 108 Dhara is believed to bring about salvation (Moksha).

There are two ways to reach Muktinath. Either take a flight from Pokhara toJomsom or hike for 7-8 hours from Jomsom or trek all the way from Pokhara through Kali-Gandaki valley, which takes 7/8 days. Helicopter services are also available from Pokhara & Kathmandu. There has a trekking route one of famous treks name of Muktinath. The sight of the bewildering Annapurana and Dhaulagiri ranges will enchant you as you approach towards Pokhara Valley by air or surface. The next morning when you discover the clear sky and views of mountain, you then discover you are on your special journey to the Muktinath

 Kagbeni:  Muktinath as said is the provider of Salvation & has a detailed elaboration in Hindu Dharma Shatras. Muktinath is the only shrine where a combination of Hindu and Buddhist priestdom is found.  The shrine is a beautiful pagodial signature of mix of indo gangetic and Tibetan cultural. A Shradha at the confluence of Kag khola and river Kaligandagi at Kagbeni and worship after that in the shrine of lord Muktianth is heavenly and boon bestowing. One would be enlightened and thrilled to have the Darshan of Lord Vishnu flanked by the idols of His divine consorts Goddess Lakshmi and Goddess earth on right and left. The temple is at the altitude of 3667 mand covers a beautiful panoramic Himalayan view.

How to visit Muktinath
There is helicopter service from Kathmandu and Pokhara. From kathmandu it take a times 1.15 hrs for one way and from Pokhara 45 minutes for one way. It takes 45 min.  Flight from Pokhara to Jomsom  
From Jomsom the district headquarters of Mustang, the by trek 7/8 hrs. By horse ride 4 /5 hrs. By motorbike/6 wheelers 3 /4 hrs.  Would be for one day to and from.
Our guest may enter Nepal directly by air to Kathmandu and then visiting places like Kathmandu valley and Pokhara & to Jomsom, Pokhara and Jomsom are linked to Kathmandu by air or one may have a choice to travel to Pokhara by road from Kathmandu and then by air to Jomsom 2667 m.

Other way of entering Nepal is through Sunauli Border and Kakarvitta border, nearest railway junction is Gorakhpur and Silgudi respectably and then visit to Pokhara by road or air & further Mahendra Nagar Indian city Banbasa, Biratnagar & Pashupati nagar on Indian border Jogbeni & Darjeeling respectably.

What to wear
1 Normal and Warm clothes are will be sufficient,

Month to visit Muktinath
By Helicopter visit in the month of April to October is suitable. For the treks on foot / April to October is preferable.

Others Requirement
Indians are required to carry authorized identity card, preferably passport, Indians and others SAARC nationals will have to pay ACAP fee of Rs. 200 and others nationals will be paying Rs. 2000.

Day 3:

Departure to Pokhara (By flight overland). Pokhara city sight seeing place to visit Bindhabasini Temple, Seti River gorge, Gorkha Museum, Devi's waterfall, Mahadev Cave and visit the Barahi Temple by boat ride in Fewa Lake.

Day 4:

Morning fly to Muktinath by Helicopter. After Holy bath and puja back to Pokhara free time for rest.

Day 5:

Back to Kathmandu or onward destination.

Kathmandu-Manakamana-Pokhara-Muktinath

Day 1:

Arrival in Kathmandu transfers to Hotel, overnight.

Day 2:

Kathmandu city Sight Seeing place to visit Pashupatinath, Bouddha Nath, Budhanilkantha, Balaju water, Swayambhu Nath stupa (Monkey's temple)

Day 3:

Drive to Pokhara via manakamana Temple Darshan by Cable Car , overnight.

Day 4:

At Morning fly to Muktinath by Helicopter, After holy bath, Fly back to Pokhara, then Pokhara city Sight Seeing place to visit - Bindhabasini Temple, Seti River gorge, Gorkha Museum, Devi's waterfall, Mahadev Cave and visit the Barahi Temple by boat ride in Fewa Lake, overnight

Day 5:

Back to Kathmandu , Leisure overnight.

Day 6:

Drive to Nagarkot for sunset program, overnight.

Pokhara-Muktinath-Pokhara

Day 1:

Arrival in Pokhara . Transfer to hotel.

Day 2:

City Sight Seeing place to visit Bindhabasini Temple, Seti River gorge, Gorkha Museum, Devi's waterfall, Mahadev Cave and visit the Barahi Temple by boat ride in Fewa Lake evening leasure and overnight

Day 3:

Morning fly to Muktinath by Helicopter. After Holy bath and puja back to Pokhara , free time for rest overnight.
